The Interpret Britain Award Judges commended our ‘attention to detail in the delivery and some lovely ideas such as the contemplation tree and handwritten labels; a truly tranquil and enjoyable experience.’

Designer David Patrick and I worked with the curatorial team and Lady Salisbury

to create engaging, sensory displays about the gardens at Hatfield House.

The challenge was to create displays that would meet the needs of knowledgeable

plantspeople and garden historians, alongside general interest visitors. We achieved this by taking a layered approach to the interpretation, and also provided a variety of tactile and sensory elements that would appeal to adults and children alike.

‘I have been utterly impressed by the quality of your work.  A Company of Pleasures is one of the best exhibitions we have had at the Museum.’

Anne Jennings, curator.
